Terrifying lows, Dizzying Highs and Creamy Middles

The USA won their group and ...unfortunately, they had to play the last African team, Ghana. Ghana was well represented and from this fan's opinion played the better match. Thus the better team won. It is heart wrenching to see your team get knocked out of the world cup in person. As you walk out amongst the vuvuzelas and the waving flags of the opposition, it is hard not to notice your compatriots sad long faces. As one kind Brit put it on the way home,"You'll get another chance in four years."

South Western Township

Youth Day was a blast. So much happiness present in the air around Soweto. Clearly it was a day for the youth yet all people present were in high spirits. Many were partying, on the way to a party or preparing for a party. Hugs were a plenty and I posed for more pictures with strangers than I have in a long time. Ghana was well represented and I was present in many of their pictures. Despite the good mood, there was a sad feeling present in the Hector Pieterson Musuem. The Musuem detailed the tragic events of the day and teh following days. Including many heart wrenching photos and videos. Though you were not allowed to take pictures, I did receive an image from a friend. Unfortunately, I did not enter the old residence of Nelson Mandela (Madiba), due to the high price and incredible crowd. The was setting when I jetted out of Soweto for Nike's Perfect Pitch party. Riding two taxi vans to the other end of Soweto, which I learned is quite big. More to come in the days and weeks ahead. I need to catch up on some errands including picking up some laundry, ahhh fresh clothes.

God Bless America

While drinking before the England vs. Usa match I came across two presidents. Lincoln was actually a wealth of knowledge, citing his rank among the presidents (16th) and several accomplishments. One South African was ripping on him til I said "He was the Great Emancipator or the Nelson Mandela of America." At which point he bought me a beer.

I got my tickets! Well not all of them, but look for me on TV at the USA vs. England clash this week. I am the guy with the USA flag, the USA jersey, and the USA hoodie. Go Yanks!
